This course is designed to familiarize students with the terms associated with the business franchises and classifications of franchises in the Philippines; It deals with the advantages and disadvantages of franchising, understand the legal aspect and requirements of franchising. It deals on the two perspectives of franchising- the FRANCHISOR’s and the FRANCHISEE’s. It also deals on sourcing capital to finance the franchise business and manage money effectively.

 

Course Description:
 
This course is designed to familiarize students with the terms associated with the business franchises and classifications of franchises in the Philippines; It deals with the advantages and disadvantages of franchising, understand the legal aspect and requirements of franchising. It deals on the two perspectives of franchising- the FRANCHISOR’s and the FRANCHISEE’s. It also deals on sourcing capital to finance the franchise business and manage money effectively.
 
 
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
Ø Choose, acquire and manage one’s own franchise. It will help them also to distinguish good opportunity from a poor opportunity and find the one that fits best and is most likely to make them money in the market under consideration
Ø Turn an existing business into a franchise business. It will guide them in the key steps in order to franchise their own business
Ø Provide analytical knowledge on how best to evaluate franchise offerings and to be able to ask the ‘right questions’ regarding the franchise business

Value Aims:
Inculcated in the conduct of the course, the students are able to:
Ø Recognize the different trends in franchising, its importance to our society and business community, how to adapt the challenges of change and explore all possibilities for entrepreneurial or self-employment purposes
Ø Discover the needs for positive franchising trade relationships and fair franchise agreements that will be beneficial to both parties
Ø Determine the extent of demand for its products or services by using a market research that will help them uncover key trends and form a better understanding of the franchise’s market, customers and competition
Ø Develop camaraderie and cohesive, congenial, professional team spirit in group case studies, seminars and workshops
 
Course Requirements:
Ø Must pass quizzes/long examinations/graded oral presentations/recitations
Ø Should not exceed more than 7 cuts
Ø Must submit presentation/reports on scheduled dates
Ø Must submit and pass the final group project and presentation
