About
The course is designed to provide the students with a working knowledge of a robust, integrated software applications as they are applied to service, retail, and manufacturing businesses.
Course Objectives : At the end of the course, students are expected to:
1. Learn and appreciate the importance of integrated software applications (that cover database, planning, execution and control) to service, retail, and manufacturing businesses.
2. Understand the business processes of at least one service company, at least one retail company, and at least one manufacturing company.
3. Learn Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concepts and methodologies and their applications to service, retail, and manufacturing businesses.
1. Be able to set up the basic database tables such as chart of accounts, customer master, vendor master, item master, warehouse/store master, bill of materials, production routings, etc. of an ERP System.
2. Be able to do the various business transactions such sales, purchases, collection from customers, payment to vendors, stock transfers, stock adjustments, return from customer, return to vendor,
etc. using ERP System.

Instructional and Teaching Materials :
- ERP System installed in the eBusiness Laboratory.
- ERP Operating Guide/Manual installed in the eBusiness Laboratory.
- ERP reading materials available on the internet.
- Student’s Learning Reports -Each student needs to compile all her graded Student’s Learning Reports in a neat, organized manner in a folder/binder as this will be inspected by the teacher near the end of the semester.
- Preliminary Project Report
- Final Project Report (please see page 3 for the required contents of the Project Report)
- Attendance and Active Class Participation
Grading System : 1. Student’s Learning Reports (SLR) - 35%
Expectations from each student :
It is the student’s responsibility to prepare and submit her Student’s Learning Reports on time. The due dates of the Student’s Learning Reports will be given not later than next week. Thus, she should make sure that she understands what are being discussed in class and can do herself the ERP database setup, transactions and generation of inquiries/reports. As a member/leader of a group of 3 students for Project Report, she is also expected to contribute approximately 1/3 of the Project Report required contents. She must submit the Preliminary and Final Project Reports on or before the due dates. She is expected to attend each class and actively participate in class discussions. Read carefully and follow the attached guidelines – “HOW TO GET A GRADE OF 5.0 IN BA102”.
Academic dishonesty :
All students are expected to be academically honest. Cheating, lying and other forms of immoral and unethical behaviour will not be tolerated. Any student found guilty of cheating in examinations or plagiarism in submitted course requirements will (at a minimum) receive an F (or 0.00) or failure in the course. Plagiarism and cheating refer to the use of unauthorized books, notes or securing help in an examination; copying assignments, student’s learning reports or term papers, representing the work of another person as one’s own; collaborating, without authority, with another student during an examination or in preparing academic work; signing another student’s name on attendance sheet; or practicing other scholastic dishonesty.

Project Report (Required Contents):
- Company background
- Organizational chart with officers/managers’ names
- Flowchart and description of the company’s business processes
- Current software applications in use by the company
- Evaluation of the usefulness (for the company) and limitations of the current software applications
- Recommendations
- Appendix - picture of group members with one or more managers of the company in front of the company’s logo/name.
- Maximize your learning about ERP (business processes and systems) by reading, studying, thinking, and discussing more about ERP and related topics.
- Think critically as you listen to the teacher’s lecture and as you read, study/analyze supplementary materials from Internet and books. Express your ideas, views, and opinions and ask meaningful questions during class discussions and in the Student’s Comments/Reactions/Suggestions section of your Student Learning Reports.
- Request the teacher to further explain the concept when it appears vague to you.
- Make your Student Learning Reports, Preliminary Project Report and Final Project Report thorough and comprehensive. In your Project Reports, include relevant business forms used by the company.
- Do your best in writing your Student Learning Reports, Preliminary Project Report and Final Project Report. Seek help from professionals to make your reports professionally done.
- Be creative to make your presentation of your Final Project Report interesting to your audience (teacher and classmates).
- Do dry runs (3-5 times) of your project presentation to gain mastery of your presentation materials.
- Provide excellent answers to questions raised by your teacher and classmates about any item/s in your project presentation.
- Avoid absences from BA102 classes and actively participate in class discussions and activities.
