Welcome to the Biblical Spirituality course! This course will take you on a journey through the biblical stories and passages which most of you would be familiar with. The Bible is largely the religious history of the Jewish people consisting not of historical documents but religious historical texts so they cannot and should not be taken literally. Hence the question is not "Did this happen?" but rather "What is the message or meaning of the text?" In the Old Testament or more approriately called the Hebrew Scripture, we encounter stories or "myths", law, history, poetry, wisdom and prophecy. In the New Testament or Christian Scripture we read about the public life or ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, his teachings through prarables, his nature and healing miracles and more importantly his Passion, Death and Resurrection.
